Our History

In 1927, three men from Fort Wayne Bible College (now part of Taylor University - Fort Wayne) came to Angola to hold tent meeting revival services.  The tent meeting was held on a vacant lot of what is now Auto Zone on North Wayne Street.  The results of the meetings were so encouraging, one of the men, Rev. Joseph Klopfenstein, organized a group to start a new church.

This young congregation was able to obtain the use of the abandoned Fairview Church of Christ on East Mechanic Street (see photo on right) on the lot of what is now C A Nedele & Sons. That area of town was then known as the Fairview Subdivision. The congregation changed the name of the church to Fairview Missionary Church, the name the church still holds.

In 1955, the congregation built a new church and parsonage at the corner of Williams and Randolph Streets in Angola, the church is now the Seventh Day Adventist Church. (see photo)

The church was completely remodeled and redecorated in 1980.

In 1985, 14 1/2 acres at the corner of County Road 200 N and State Road 827 were purchased on which to construct a new church.

In 1986, we moved into the new church and the properties at Randolph and Williams Streets were sold. (see photo) In 1994, a Children’s Education wing was added to the church.

In the fall of 2000, the new sanctuary and classrooms were completed. (see photo)

In 2006 we purchased 13 acres with a house and a barn for ministry use. The house is used by our young adult staff, Fred and Sue Morgan. The land will be developed into a ministry village in future years as city utilities come closer to us.
