Joel’s Journal 1-12-21

I’m sorry to announce that enough people responded to my inquiry that “Joel’s Journal” will continue.

Sunday was a great day! We had 280 people at the church for our 10:30 service. I was a little surprised by the number. I knew it had to be full when part-way into the first song a couple came up and sat next to me in the front row. I secretly enjoyed that very much because my family couldn’t be here this week with me. Look for a future email to find out about the addition of another in-person service option starting next week.

On Sunday evening I met with my Life Group for the first time. We are all very excited for the opportunity to meet together, get to know each other better and take our next step toward Jesus.

My youngest daughter, Hannah (3), has been tested three times for COVID-19 over the last three months. We received the latest test results this morning saying she was “negative” after having cold symptoms that started on Friday. I have heard stories of adults who cry after the test, when the swab is stuck way up their nose. Hannah hasn’t even flinched all three times. I think she is one “tough cookie”! Needless to say, she has shared her cold with Moriah (8) and my wife.

I just finished the book “The Space Between Us: How Jesus Teaches Us to Live Together When Politics and Religion Pull Us Apart” by Sarah Bauer Anderson. Although I don’t agree with everything she says, I think this is a good book for us to read. Our world needs to learn again how to have conversations and relationships with those we don’t agree with. She offers a very interesting perspective and I do believe there is a lot we can learn from her.

Sorry, I don’t have pictures of my closet to share with you, but you can see with some of my pics below, my struggle with organization from my makeshift woodshop

In God’s Love,
