Joel’s Journal #17  06/30/21

So I am not sure which one of you has been praying for rain, but I think you can stop now. I’m not sure how many inches we’ve received at my house, but I think we are good for a while. If someone has been praying for the rain, I have some other things I’d like you to pray for as well 😉.

Michelle just gave me the final numbers for our “Give It All Away” offering from earlier in June. Are you ready for this? $139,218.53!!! And yes, we will give all of that away right down to the final penny. This offering easily puts us over the $1,000,000 mark since we started this a few years ago. Can you believe we have given away over $1,000,000 to help spread the Good News of Jesus? Only God knows how many lives have been changed because of your faithfulness. To God be the glory. You guys rock.

I went out for a bike ride yesterday around 3:30 here in Steuben County. I started at my house in Easton place and went north east. I ended about two miles north of the Angola Speedway on CR 600 East. I turned around and started to head home. It was getting pretty dark toward my house, but I didn’t really have another option. I was about 1.5 miles from home and the heavens opened. I found myself pedaling into 40 mph winds with rain coming down in sheets. I could barely see. Needless to say my wife ended up picking me up about .75 miles from home. Yes, I did check the radar before I went out, but I thought I could make it. I was about 5 minutes late.

This Sunday is July 4th. We will be having our Patriotic service tonight and next Sunday. This is always one of the hardest messages for me to write every year. I encourage you to join us. The service will be similar to past years, but also a little different due to Pastor Glenn no longer being here. Did you know the city moved the parade to 1 pm so you can go to church on Sunday? How awesome is that? Make sure you thank someone who made that decision. I can’t wait to see the fireworks on Sunday night. I missed them greatly last year. Fireworks are my favorite part about July 4th.

I finally ordered my SawStop table saw last week. I put it together last week every night after I got back from Sports Jam. I haven’t been able to use it much yet, but I am working on Christmas gifts right now. By the way, Sports Jam was amazing. Jessica and Keri did an amazing job, as well as all the other volunteers. We had over 120 kids here every night. We had 9 students make first time decisions to follow Jesus! We have an amazing kid ministry team here. Thank you to all who helped.

In God’s Love,
